Extractors

If I get some extractors, or have some made for my Avenger 1300, will there be an issue with the loss of heating for instace, as the intake manifold as is, is fastened also to a protrusion or plattau from the exhaust manifold, presumably for heating up the intake manifold?

You'll lose about 2hp putting extractors on your 1300 because of the cold intake manifold.
As the 1300 already has the same free-flow exhaust and carby as a 1600..extractors and a carb upgrade are not needed for road use. The best mod is to fit a 1600 twin carb cam as the standard 1300 cam is pathetic!

Oldschool, nothing about the avenger series is pathetic. Anyway, what is needed for road use is of chourse dependent on ones individual taste. But loosing 2 hp I?m not ready for unless I can gain more by other means. Using two carburetors however will decrease depression on each carb, and thus produce less torque on low rpm. Are you of the opinion that a 1300 is not getting all the air and gas it can take with one carb even on high rpm? Be honest.

The problem with the 1300 is the cam not the intake~exhaust systems. There's no benefit in upgrading those systems without changing the cam.
The Hillman 1300/1500 and Chrysler 1300/1600 all had a similar mild cam. The Hillman 1600 single carb had a warm cam while the Hillman twin carb models had a hot cam.
I suspect the Chrysler models reverted to the mild cam to reduce emissions which were starting to become important in the late 1970's.

Oldschool, that is very usefull to me. Maybe you can say something about the sort of cam that would do.
