Awesome work on the engine. Glad to hear the startup went well.

Great work on your Tiger over the years, I have enjoyed hearing about it via email.

What sort of power are you hoping to get out of this engine?

nice bit of work miles,140 @ the wheels great power, did you modify your sump also with some wings?

NZTiger

The sump was winged when I bought the car, but recently I have added baffles inside.

Awesome build history for your engines.

I only wish I had the time, money and resources to spend on my race engine.

Mines isn't as powerful as yours but it revs to 9k. I found at 9K the valve guides would wear out pretty quickly

I have an acticle by David Vizard in an old "1977 Cars and Car Conversions" magazine which talks about how to build a 160HP Avenger engine. In that he has some fixes he made to fix the valve guide issue. It is a really in-depth article and it is a very good read, I could scan it for you if you are interested. It has flow figures for all the different heads and dyno figures for all the different thing he did so you can see what power gains what mod made. I ended up limiting my engine to around 8K to save on wear but I wish I had have tried some of his stuff first.

I did the same sort of thing as you with my head on my '75, took it to a head specialist and they used their flow table to do some magic on it. Cost me $1800 just for the head work but it is amazing the difference.

Keep up the good work and keep the posts coming.

Cheers

Blue car is a 77 Apline, rescued from Pick at part about 3 years ago. Initially grabbed it as a spare shell, but it is so good it will not take much to get on the road. It has 77k on clock and I am sure it is original. It has been looked after and even has all glass etched with reg #. I'm thinking of reregistering and getting original plates reissued.
Original vinyl roof is almost perfect, there is a bit of surface rust and 2 small (50c) size rust holes and just a couple of dents in one side (from PaP forkfilt).
When I got is home it had a broken diff, all the badges gone, steering column and rack, wheels & frt bumper removed. I have all these bits so it is now running.
Inside all the seats are good, all door cards excellent, frt carpet good and dash just the normal cracks in the centre, but the headlining has been half ripped out...(but I have a brand new one)

Awesome mate. It looks really good. Glad you saved it from the wreakers.

One of my mates from the MoPar forum spotted your car outside a local mechanics today and stopped to take some pics with his cell phone.

It is looking really good. I have to pop in next time I am down your way and check out your Avengers in person.

Here are the pictures my mate took.

I used to have a Close Ratio Avenger box but during a maintenance check I discovered it wasn't in the best condition so looked for a alternative and ended up with a T50 with a close ratio TRD gear set, that was the easy bit, making the bellhousing was the hard bit which involved cutting the bellhousing off an Avenger box, cutting the gearbox end of a T50 bellhousing and welding them together, easy when said quickly...also needed to make a rear Xmember and special propshaft.
Works very well, nice ratios and very pleased with the result.

sweet information's! Auto bell housing no good to help the process? I do have a few practice ones etc (kinda saving if I ever have to maualise the Road car
