does anyone have any pics of avengers with the chrome fender mirrors? Have seen a few pics floating around, and i quite like them...

like the avenger in this

cheers

avenga

I have seen them around in photos also. I have never seen an Avenger in NZ with them so I am assuming they are a UK only thing. I could be wrong. By the look of photos I have seen they had 2 types, one for the normal Avenger and a cool Tiger one. I really like the one on the Tigers.

Maybe "Avengertiger" or "NZtiger might know more about them.

Here are some pictures

the mk2 tigers had mirrors called radbournes and are extremely hard to get hold off i have never seen them on anything else and i believe radbourne are no longer trading,mk1 tigers came with bullet mirrors which are easy enought to locate new now although not as unique as the mk2 tiger.
i had the fender mirrors on my green deluxe they came from the rootes accesories catalouge which i got with the car they are simple enough mirriors and something should be able to be adapted to suit.

sorry eeew!

and ya cant do the cool dukes of hazard slide over the bonnet :D

BUT in the effort of being different I LIKE in a weird way

still view them as impracticle simply from the point of view of the point of view being restricted... (never drove a car with fender mirrors either - they might actually be easier as they are in point of view etc)

I think out loud sometimes... sometimes

Here's a 2500 mile Avenger for sale in the UK with those gay wing mirrors!

2,500 miles is just stupid over the last 36 years.

I did more than that on my South Island trip in my Charger (2816 miles over 12 days)

That works out to an average of around 112KM per year over it's 36 year life. I just can't see why someone would buy a car then use it so little. couldn't they have just walked or caught a taxi? would have been much cheaper.

But other than that it is a nice car.

Maybe they bought it as an investment....would have cost about 1000 pounds new in 1974, now selling for 5000....lol
Those poms are a bit nuts about collecting cars...did you hear about the Mk5 Cortina sold brand new in 2005 for 8900 pounds...apparently had been sitting in a dealers showroom since 1982...OMG

haha, that is just mental. Now if it was a MK3 Cortina I would be all over it because I think the MK3 looks choice but not so much the MK5.

My parents had a gold MK5 Cortina wagon in the 80's. It was awesome until my mum crashed in to the back of a truck in it. Ouch.

Speaking of Cortina wagons, I went to view an Avenger late last year and just down the road from it I was this Cortina Wagon parked on the side of the road. I couldn't stop laughing at it. I just had to take a picture of it.

One of my mates liked it so much he did the same to his Valiant Wagon

Now that's random...looks like a snow plough...and that reverse number plate must really fool the speed cameras....haha

Haha, yeah my mate photoshopped his Valiant Wagon so he had to reverse the image to get the spoiler to fit  ;D

You see some pretty bad attempts at customising. funny thing that was out your way. usually westies are quite tasteful in the mods they do.

Anyother thing that really cracks me up is when boy racers go totally over the top with gauges. I saw a lancer on Trademe a while back, it had 3 monster tachos, all see to different shift light speeds so the first would light up at like 3k then 5k then 7k. then he had like 4 little gauges down the pillar and another 3-4 in the center. all up well over a dozen aftermarket gauges. surprised he has time to drive after checking all his guages. to top it off he had lambo doors on it.

Again my mate liked the mods so much he did them on his Charger.

I had a try hard boy race pull up beside me at the lights a while back. The cabin was just coated with guages all revving his engine like a tough guy. And the funny thing is usually the guys who have all that pointless stuff have really slow cars. He couldn't even keep up with my Avenger.
