The story of my car, a 74 hillman avenger wagon. (Written on my husbands account)
The car was bought by my dad as a 21st present for one of my brothers, mint condition, ran well nice as interior for age and no problems getting a wof. The day it appeared on the gravel infront of dads garage I decided that dammit I wanted that car. With a month or so before my brothers birthday he was allowed to use the car as he had no other transport, the car came back all the time in desperate need of a clean and in a fit of rage at his son for not looking after the car dad started thinking maybe he shouldn't get it after all.
So in jumps me with offers to buy it and treat it like it deserved but the birthday rolled around and as he had nothing else to give him, the car was my brothers. And despite my sisterly nagging and offers of everything I could (trade and cash for my car at the time, cash) he refused and the poor car was left to suffer with it's new owner.
Eventually I stumbled into a bargin of a Jeep Cherokee and finally had something he would trade for the now miserable condition Avenger. And despite everyone telling me it wasn't worth it the trade was done and the car was finally mine!
It hadn't had a wof in ages, was rusting around the doors and boot, had a smashed tail light, the exhaust had been taken off, and he'd tried to put twin carbs on it  and done it half assed.
I finally have money to try and fix it up to a warrantable standard and have big plans to eventually restore it back to former glory with my husbands help.
The photo of the orange car is my parts car, the white stallion is my wagon. If anyone actually read all this then spare a moment to wish me and my dream car well  ;D
