Awesome. I am really excited to see what Mal and the guys down at Bygone Autos can do with your SR20DE conversion.

Should be pretty mean when it is done.

His workshop will look pretty cool with all the Avengers down there because he still has both of mine.

Did this poor bloke know what he was getting into when he first took your custom? Hahaha.
Chill Datto, bro!

avenga

Haha, yeah he has built some pretty crazy stuff for the Avengers now.

Nikolai is getting the same brake upgrade as they did on my '75 also.

They must either be really loving working on all these Avengers or really sick of them  ;D

If I was in Auckland I would rock up there for the LOLs. I bet when they hear the OHV with it's tappets clicking like mad pulling in they will all run and hide.

It's not actually a very difficult conversion at all, and like mentioned - since he's done the brakes before, that's much easier now, and the SR20 is very similarly sized, as is the gearbox.

The only headache will be the diff.

blekkja

What diff are you using? Assuming the stock one isn't going to be able to handle the extra power...
Chill Datto, bro!

Nikolai

Good question!

Yup, getting rid of the stock one but not sure what we will swap for.

oldschool

The stock Avenger diffs are pretty strong - Richard said he never broke one during racing and the Avenger based Lotus Sunbeam had 150hp (road version) and 250hp (rally version) going through an Avenger diff and LSD diffs are still available new!!

avenga

Yeah, I raced for 5 years or so on the same diff. Never had a problem.

The_Jims

Yeah...If Richard's rally avenger can handle 5 years worth of good 250hp thrashing, I'm pretty sure you wont need to worry about changing the diff for an SR20! Lucky bugger!

Not sure my rally Avenger could pull 250HP, maybe minus 100HP from that and you would be in the ball park.

Yeah, Richard's wasn't 250hp for sure :P

Hmm, funny because Mal reckoned it would blow up straight away if the wheels started spinning (which they will!)

You guys think a brand new Avenger LSD would work? Where would I get one ASAP?
