One of the lights on my rear number plate is out and I need to get a WoF. I replaced the lightbulb with a brand new one but the light is still not working, I looked at the workshop manual but can't fully make out the wiring diagram, where should I start looking for the fault to attempt to fix it?

an earth should be in the boot connected to the body from the rear light.
or the contacts in the light have corroded is it the glass type one with a little clip holding the glass bowl on?
i usually take them off and clean the body and test off the car.

I've actually just fixed that earth as it was causing a rave party with my taillights when i would have my headlights on, braking and indicating left haha. There is alot of rust in the hole, how would I go about cleaning it out?

from memory the contact for the bulb is on the wire so should push up through the light body, just clean the contact light bit of emery paper and clean the inside of the holder were the bulb goes in.
gently is the key.

I'm planning to have some in stock next month. In the meantime you can get a WOF with one number plate light..mount in the middle if needed.

did you check to make sure it has power coming to it,and that the wire hasn't a break in it?

Good point, i'll get the multi-tester out on Monday (my next day off) and if there is no current i'll follow the cable through the body, pull it out and possibly run a new cable through
