I am looking at possibly putting a Single Dellorto 40 on my Avenger as twin Dellortos consume too much petrol for me as my Avenger is my daily driver, Would the single Dellorto 40 give a good power increase over Twin Stromberg 150's? Ive tried google but am having trouble finding information on this, Thanks  :)

phwoar, I'd got he single Dell for coolness anyday if you have the option

twin Stroms here on my Alpine & I run a 'fuelly' account to keep track of my Petrol / mileage

rather than wasting time on a Dyno swapping carbs (only real way to check power)

maybe do that? (start a fuelly account & keep track for a few tanks)

I'm actually running a stock 1300cc Avenger but am looking at buying a 1500 with twin Dellortos on it already, my friend is willing to sell me his spare twin Stromberg manifold with carbs for mates rates as i'm not too keen to use the twin Dellortos, but am kind of warming up to the idea, So i was hoping to get this information beforehand. I may try and use the twin Dellortos for a while and see how much fuel it uses, if its an acceptable amount i'll keep the twin Dellortos.

heh yea power or fuel economy, pick one you cant have both :P

My two cents worth, the homework has already been done for setting up twin strombergs so you could do every thing yourself even on how change the jets for more power, if you keep your ears and eyes open you can even score a factory throttle and choke cable and set everything up stock, you will also need the twin stromberg exhaust manifold as it will not fit on the single exhaust manifold or buy an extractor , if you choose to use the single dellorto you will need to seek the services of a pro that can set up the chokes and jet sizes to suit your engine. I also think if you just do the carb change (strombergs or dellortos) with no other engine mods I think you will not notice a great deal in power increase compared to the increase in fuel consumption

Ive warmed up to the idea of Twin Dellorto's and from what Ive seen from my friends Avenger its definitely worth it. From what we can tell the Engine Ive brought has definitely had some head work done to it, haven't had a chance to properly inspect it yet but we're picking the car up this Thursday and i'll have a proper inspection when Ive got the engine out, if it turns out that no head work has actually been done I will probably just go down to the Strombergs or look into doing some head work myself, Thanks guys :)
