Hi people,

1976 Hillman Avenger 1600 super. Currently i just have cut springs in the front(captive) and cut springs in the rear(not captive). Car came like this when i bought it. Looking for some legit/stiffer options.

I noticed that the rear shocks are a pretty common form factor and standard mounts and wondered if anybody had come across or had model numbers/know which other cars have shorter shocks which could work as an upgrade/lower the avenger. Same deal with springs(from other cars which are suitable for front or rear or where to source super low king springs).

Also looking to get the avenger prepped and painted, has some surface rust etc but nothing structural yet so want to deal to it soon. In wellington if anybody knows any decent home jobs/perkies around.

Any insight much appreciated.

i am in the same boat with my gls. i read on another forum that you can run CF Bedford front shocks in the rear of your Avenger and it will captivate your rear springs.

oldschool

I can't see how that will work? The CF has 2 x stud mounts, the Avenger has 1 x stud and 1 x eye.

mine a late model 1 and the shocks i got from my uncles bedford were the same as the cortina with eyelets at the bottom and a stalk at the top. they were mint in my last 1,

unless im mistaken and it was the rears that i used from the bedford
