Manifold bolts

Chucking my reconned head back on went like a dream yesterday. I even think that I did a pretty decent job with setting the tappets, which with the exception of bleeding brakes is my most hated chore. The only thing that went wrong is that the thread of both bolts at each end of the inlet manifold stripped. Question is can I get a slightly skinner but longer bolt and fasten it with a nut on the other side of that little recess in the head? As long as I can get it torqued up to the right spec it shouldn't give me any grief, right?

if I think your doing what i think your doing the head bolts are in the way & you need short fat bolts to go into those (look down the hole you'll see the head bolt)

either end of the intake mani?

You are right. The stud by the waterpump will prevent this. I could with the other end, but I might as well get that done properly too if that is the case. Damn it. I wanted to go out for a blat. It's been too long.
