Avenger wagons are cool. I always wanted one as a project. It would be great to see one of the guys from the forum restore it and at $250 why not? surely one of you South Island guys would like to have a go at it!

I have a spare windscreen if you are really desperate. I would prefer to keep it as a spare but if you really can't find another I will sell it.

Well I own my first avenger. Think I will just use it as a parts cars as it's missing a few pieces but for 300 deleted to my house I couldn't not buy it.

Congrats man. A turbo wagon would be pretty awesome if you are looking for unique and cool. You don't see many wagons around so it could be a cool car to do up depending on the condition.

Yeah should be cool needs alot of work the body looks pretty good but it's missing quit A few parts so will just find a sedan and use the parts I like. Are the wagons and sedans the same running gear and doors gaurds ect? Did the body change much other then the lights as it's a 1980 wagon Amani want a earlier sedan will most of the parts diff suspension ect work on the different years?

avenga

Doors are the same on the wagon and sedan for all models.

Front guards are the same for the wagon and sedan but different between the Hillman and Chrysler models, The Hillman has it's indicators under the bumper so the front guard wraps around to the front but Chryslers have the indicators beside the light and the indicator wraps around the the side of the car. If you look at my 2 Avengers you can see the difference.

The diff is different on the Wagon (Estate) it uses parallel trailing arms with a panhard rod instead of diagonal trailing arms. I use an Estate diff in my race car but I have custom made upper arms and panhard rod mounts.

Engine and trans are the same in the Estate or sedan.

BTW is it like a biege/tan colour? I remember seeing a biege on TradeMe last year down that way.

Thanks avenga

Thats sounds alright then im glad i will be able to use most of the parts to make a good car.

Are avenger diffs quite weak, i have been told they are. with having a turbo i think leaving some tyre on the road might have to happen every now and then, am i likely to distroy the diff?

I think the 1600 in the wagon wil be right for my turbo, i need an alternator and starter motor tho bugger it. Hopefully i will get the wagon next week and get to have a good look at it.

Its that browny horrible colour they came out as no a very nice colour at all but i cvan change that easily if i deside to project it.

When I used to scrap Avengers in my racing day I used to buy salons and wagons for parts. I know my front drivers side guard and door are off a wagon. I brought a wagon after I crashed my race car and used all the body panels off that. I still have a few spare doors and a spare guard, that spare windscreen I have came out of a wagon.

I have heard some people say the Avenger diffs are weak but I never broke one in all my years of racing them so personally I think they are a good diff for what they are.

I found gearboxes to be the weak link in the drivetrain but that may be just down to the way I race, I am pretty tough on the gears.

The Estate should also have the 4.11:1 diff instead of the 3.89 in a salon which would light up better and give you better acceleration but it will hurt your revs on the motorway.
