I know there has been a previous thread on members wheels but i have a question. I have recently acquired some 6JJ x 14 cheviot hot wires, stud pattern is correct but it seems the stud length may be to short for the thickness of the rims. Is there any way of rectifying this or does it mean i will have to source some other rims, if so any ideas as to what fit with out changing the stud length.

proper shank nuts are required : mine were $65 for the last set I purchased from my local tyre shop (same as the price "NiceWheels.co.nz quoted" around $4 per nut + washer)

Normally no need to change the studs as a stepped mag wheel nut is used...Avengers are M12 x 1.25 I think.

they are good for Hotwires (I have 2x sets 5.5" and 7") but found that with Cheviot Turbo's we had to turn the shank down to around 16mm (thinner face on the mag)

just some useful information :P

That was one of the quirks of the Avenger - metric wheel studs!
Measured mine snuggly across the threads with a vernier caliper and is 11.70mm.
Impossible to be 7/16" as that's only 11.11mm.
Mk2 Escorts were also 12mm but 1.5mm pitch, while Mk1 Escorts, Hunters and other Hillmans were 7/16".

definintly 12mm , thread pitch is stamped on my Shank nuts at hm will double check at lunch but pretty sure 12x1.25 is correct (TBC)
