just roll it as is/wrap some tape around it

avenga

Yeah man. Race tape fixes anything. I have fixed worse things with race tape.

I used to pit crew for my mates go karts and we used to do some such dodgy repairs with race tap. I wish I got some photos aye because some event I swear the only thing holding the kart together was tape.

This sort of thing but worse

lol will see how their welding goes : what did ya use to clean those carbs up Andrew?

I have heard carb-cleaner mentioned BUT I have some degreaser in a can and half a brake cleaner can also plenty of thinners here at work - gave the intake a bit of a rub and plenty of silver paint came off - a bunch of expoy is smeared around one of the runners, no biggie

avenga

Man those Dellortos sound awesome. I love the angry sound of a good set of side drafts. Can't wait to see what it does on the dyno.

Not too much dramas getting the old girls going? they were good carbs. I did many races and rally with those carbs. Engine bay looks great with the big carbs.

Time to kick ass at the OS nats.

Sweet. I saw you had a late one last night.

Fuel regulator isn't needed if your electric fuel pump is limited in pressure. they one in my '75 is so it will limit the fuel pressure to 3 PSI but the one in my race car was bigger and just pumped nonstop with as much pressure as it could so I needed to regulate it.

Dellortos really don't like too much fuel pressure so about 3 PSI is perfect. So if your fuel pump can't keep a steedy pressure then you don't need to use the regulator.

Yeah dellortos can be a pain to start. I have got used to it and it is second nature to me having used Dellortos for years. 2 pumps on the gas then 1/4 throttle while cranking usually does the trick but my race car was stupidly hard to start because the cam is much lumpier than yours and the compression is much higher.

All fun and games. Be cool to see what it does on the dyno.

turns out those wee nuts [not nits] are the key :P fires piece of piss with actuator in - big fuel rush (was running without in vid

Oil recommendation? is draining now

i think a half decent(ie mobil one, shell etc) 20w/50 would do the trick (well will be better than red stamp shit....)

I use Penrite HPR30 20w/60 in my Charger and Avengers.

Plenty of zinc and they are made for 70's era cars.

Your Avenger looked great at the Nats. It smokes up pretty good now and I would say you were the most fun to watch. Plus looking back at the pictures I am pretty sure you did the whole thing with your elbow out the window.

I have heaps more photos of your Avenger which didn't make the final cull because I have like 30+ shots of you laying down smoke and I didn't want to over load everyone with 100's of photo's. I had to cull them down to 150 photos so I tried to do only 3-4 of each car but I think I did 6-7 of your car. My short list of good photos had 22 photos of your car in it :)

Awesome. I have always wanted to race at Manfield. I have raced at Pukekohe, old Taupo and half track new Taupo but I have always wanted to race at Manfield, Also would love to give Hampton Downs a go.

You should have a blast down there. Make sure to get plenty of pics or videos of your Avenger tearing up the track.
