Hi fellows,

It's just amazing, you still use these cars to race, here is not like this :(. I like to see photos in which engine is open and all parts are in fixing process. My enginee has never been opened with 170.000kms over its shoulder.

Nice restoring work Joker, Congrats! that Hill looks very spicy.

Cheers!

cheers yea that was the 1st time I have seen inside an engine myself!

learnt heaps and amazing how simple it all really is

Awesome, hope you get the '76. looks like an awesome bargin for what it is. Are you going to use it as a road car?

Nicko, there is quite a few Avengers racing in New Zealand. I used to race an Avenger back in 2000-2005, and we have a few other members who have rally/race Avengers.

They make great race cars due to their light weight and good handling.

A few of the Avengers that rally here use an imported 1800 block from South America.

You are kidding me Avenga! Blocks from South America?? Maybe they could have belonged to Dodge1500 M1.8 as it is denominated here. Incredible :) I visited Sales forum and I noticed that some of you posted argentinians cars on sale, like the Volkswagen 1500, full of proud gentlemen.
I can't still believe that NZ cars are in a 90% I think, similar than our Dodges. I know mine like my hand and some pieces and parts are the exactly the same. I did not watch Joker's videos cause I am on a netbook and it sucks! but tomorrow I will take a loo at them.

Regards! Have a nice day (here is evening ja!)

Nicko. the 1800 brazil engine is the motor of choice for rallying. In 1976 Andrew Cowen won the Heatway Rally of New Zealand in a 2 door Avenger with a Brazilian 1800 in it.

They import the 1800 engines from Brazil or Argentina then bore them out to almost 2000cc. I always wanted to import an 1800 engine for my race car but I couldn't afford the shipping etc when I used to race. Instead I used a 1600 bored out to around 1750cc.

Here is a link to one of them http://www.avenger.co.nz/forum/index.php?topic=168.0 and here are some photos of another 1800 rally car in New Zealand http://groundsky.co.nz/index.php?Action=VEN&EventCode=0711&EntrantID=7512

Hey there i was referred to you as told you might be interested in a 1600 worked avenger motor, I brought this motor, it came out of a minisprint so i don't have all the specs but what i can tell you is it has hillspec cam, aluminium pistons, shaved head and block, fully balanced, ported head, regrafted distribtutor and fuel pump, set up for twin side draughts ( dellortos ) but i have a pair of solex carbs. Also free flow extractors to go with it. Let me know if your keen 0274220799
