Hey guys,

Its been awhile since ive been on so hi to all.
im heading down to blenheim for a few months which means ill be getting my little avenger going andback on the road to bring her up to auckland :)

at the moment the engine is in pieces and i have taken the main bearings off and have no idea what ones go where any more and i dont want to get the crank ground just yet.

so what im hoping to do is find an engine to just put in her so i can drive her and build up my dream engine back here in aucks.

i have access to a super minx 1725 engine, i was talking to my mate who has a singer vogue and he is saying that the 1725 engine and the 1600 engine are the same engine just with the cams making the exhaust and intake port swap around. is this true? and what about the 1600 from a super minx, would that bolt in and run the avenger?

i would like to run a standard twin carb set up with a 1600 so if i cant run these engines then does any one have a spare engine that they are willing to part with? i have all the accessories so i am really only after the block and head intake.

Cheers

Hi.

The 1725 and the Avenger 1600 are totally different engines.

The 1725 is a sloper and the 1600 is upright, this makes the bore/stroke heaps different.

1600 Bore 87.38 Stroke 66.80
1725 Bore 81.53 Stroke 82.55

I don't think they have any spared parts or anything in common.

I have a spare running Avenger 1500 that you could borrow till you get your dream motor built.

The 1600 Minx motor is even older than the 1725 motor and still totally different to the Avenger 1600, won't bolt on to the gearbox.

hi i have both a hunter and a superminx gear box super minx was mounted straight up and down some hunters are
also they only leaned them over to lower the bonnet line on the hunter i have looked in to fitting one in an avenger because i was going to do it every one thinks they wernt a very good motor but that is not entirely true they can go really well with a few mods there was a 1725 developed by swaymar race engines in the uk they produced 200bhp and stuck it in a escort because it was cheaper to get 200bhp out of the chrysler engine than to get the same from a ford engine
