yeh offset plays a bif part in wheel fitment. the offset on mine are pretty small so is sweet. keirber has 14x7" tims on hers. has stretched tyres and lipped gaurds though. looks so sweet.

sweet, you should get those carbs for reserve as they have been on there a fair few times without selling.

Drool... That engine looks great with the new carbs. Can't wait to see it with the engine all painted and the wheels fitted.

Are you coming to the oldschool nats? it would be cool to see the changes in person.

Keep up the good work.

just got a call from tonys tyres, the set of tyres I ordered orginally (some cheap as shit hankooks) arrived but one had a slight deformity, so they are getting me another set but there are no more of the hankooks availbale, so are getting me a set of much much much better quiality Toyos for only 10 buks a pop more. super stoked. I wasnt going to b abel to pick them up till this weekend coming either way (due to work hours) so its not hassling me in the slightest.

Dude I feel your pain. Carbs have been the bain of my life, all my cars I have had the carbs give me arseholes.

My race car took years to get the carbs so they didn't pop or spit. I couldn't afford a dyno back then so it was just trial and error and tuning by ear.

My Charger had an old Carter 2 barrel which was well and truely poked so I replaced it with a used holley 350CFM 2 barrel which would leak like a sieve, I am pretty sure it leaked more fuel than went in to the engine. I then replaced the manifold to an aftermarket Cain 4 barrel manifold with a new Holley 390CFM 4 barrel with vacuum secondaries which had a huge flat spot, I fixed that by installing a plenum pig which fixed the flat spot but it has never run perfect and uses too much gas.

And then there is my '75. It ran well on the overjetted settings but now that we are trying to jet it properly we are running in to heaps of problems getting it perfect. A lot of these problems are because the carbs are later model emission controlled carbs from an Alfa, Which I didn't know when I brought them because he sold them as DHLA40 not DHLA40C so I may have to ditch them and use the ones of my race car because they are proper DHLA40 carbs.

I can see why they went to EFI after all the pissing around I have done with carbs.

haha yeh I love carbs when they work though. hopefully will get time to pull out the diff this weekend and try find which bushes are shagged. can get new UJ's though Graeme and he has a few of the diff mounting bushes in stock, so hopefully the ones I need (he can order the others in, just takes a while)

avenga

I just redid the UJ's in my Charger before my big south island road trip and before that I replaced every bush in the whole car, mostly with nolathane. None of the bushes had ever been replaced because the car had only done 76,000 miles when I brought it but 40 year old rubber is pretty shit now days. Made a world of difference to the handling.

all good mate. yeh Graeme/avenger parts on here has half of the rear bushes for a very very good price, and can order the rest in if need be (takesa while though). planning to full the rear end to bits this weekend and see what the damage is and make up a shopping list of bushes and joints haha

avenga

It will be a totally different car with new bushes. If I was you I would replace the whole lot while you are at it.

It is on my incredibly long list of projects to redo all my bushes.

the costs adss up when you start getting carried away though....haha. although graeme can get them pretty cheap (compared to retail etc). I remember when I had to get new leaf spring bushes in my cortina, was about $90 just for a pair

avenga

haha, I know all to well about how costs add up and I always get carried away on car builds. I just never add up all the invoices at once to save me having a heart attack. I have a fair idea on how much my cars have cost me but it is worth it when you drive them.
