I'm not sure, It is the only part I couldn't find myself so I asked my Mechanic and he found them within a day. from memory they were about $260+GST and about $240+GST for the HPC coating.

I can find out if you need to know or I will ask my mechanic when I drop off the Avenger to get the next round of projects.

Rocking! your all legal, congrats on getting the WOF!

Now just the fun task of swapping over the carpets! Should be pretty easy but give me a yell if you get stuck and need any hints.

yeh can see it being rather tedious. did you just spray adhesive everywhere when laying the carpet down? or just so its glued to the underlay (which will already be glued in place)

avenga

I did the underlay in sections putting them down one at the time spraying the floor and the underlay then put the underlay in place and sat on it to for a few minutes making sure it was well pressed down and there wasn't any lumps.

Like this

After the underlay was in I started with the back carpets (you need to do the back carpets first so the overlap is hidden under the seats) with the carpets I sprayed the back section of the transmission tunnel and the middle bit of the carpets then stuck it in place. You sort of need to beat it in to all the bends so I just did like a karate chop to make sure it followed the lines of the transmission tunnel. Basically any time there is a corner or a curve you want to do this so it follows the curves and sticks well. If you don't hit in down hard enough it will look loose in the corners.

After the glueing the middle I worked my way out to the side doing one side at a time. once you have the back all glued down then get the plastic trim and use that as a guide to trim the extra carpet off. You want the carpet to go under the plastic trim but stop just short of the screws.

It Should look something like this.

Once you have done the back do the same with the front. Always start with the middle and as long as you have that centered and straight then everything should be sweet. The firewall to transmission tunnel bend in the hardest to get right. I have to cut some little wedges out of the top to get it to fit but you can't see it because it is right up behind the dash. I still need to cut a little bit more out of mine on the passengers side because it has a small lump where the carpets are too long. The trick to the front is the test fit it first then cut the bits out that you need to. You need to cut carpet out from where the heater is and where the pedal box is. They must have made the mould from a car that was totally stripped because a few things get in the way and need to be cut around.

Once you have it all glued it should look like this.

Good luck. I found it quite a fun project. It was the first time I ever installed carpets and I thought I was going to stuff it up badly but they came out good so if I can do it then you can.

sweet thanks for that. Unless a servo or the warehouse sells some spray adhesive I wont be abel to get some today (shit shuts before I finish work) so might have to wait till first thing int he morning. will strip car out tho and give it a good clean out

avenga

Yeah best to get a good can of spray adhesive. I used ADOS stuff from Mitre10, worked great. Cost about $17 from memory and I used less than a can.

I suppose bunnings etc will be open late tonight. i shall investigate.

avenga

Yeah they should have some good sprays there.

Also when you are working from them middle of the car do it in little bits at a time, so lift the carpet and spray a strip of adhesive then press that bit down hard and make sure it is nice and smooth without ripples. The glue sticks fast so you don't want to drop a large section down or else you won't have time to smooth it out before the glue becomes tacky enough to cause problems.

oh sweet cheers. how did you mark out the holes for the seat mounts etc? just lay the carpet down the find the holes under them?

avenga

I marked the holes with a vivid when putting the underlay in and cut the underlay before putting the carpets in.

I then took measurements from the edges and back seat so I could find them again once I put the carpets in. They are really easy to lose once the carpets are in because you can't feel the holes through the carpets. Then just use a craft knife to cut the carpets out. If you get really lost then stick a screwdriver in the hole from underneath the car and look for the buldge in the carpets, you may need 2 people to do this because some of the holes are right under the cars so you won't be able to do both at the same time. But I marked and measured mine and found them okay without having to get under the car.

Actually can you do me a favour. I lost the little holes for the centre console so I can't screw that down properly. Can you measure how far from the back seat the screws at the back of the center console is. That way I can screw it back in.

Got them finished yesterday, came out pretty good in the end. I just stiuck a screw driver up the hoples to find them, my arms were long enough haha.

yeh i lost the centre consol holes as well lol so I just drilled some new ones

avenga

haha, great stuff. You will have to post some pictures! Did you have to cut the carpets much to get them to fit?

Those little console holes are impossible to find aye. I think I will do the same and just redrill some new holes.

I just had to cut the excess from the edges of the car really.Under the centre consol is a bit ripply but its hidden so doesnt matter. I really could be bothered getting it perfect and it came up pretty good. Like yousaid the carpets are a bit big around the transmission tunnel but yeh, still looks sweet

avenga

Sweet man. Well with your new WOF and carpets it sounds like you are all ready for Hastings next weekend.
