Should look pretty cool with the big mags on it.

I would say $3K is a fair insurance value to put on it. I always see the insurance value as the cost to replace, not necessarily the value of the car itself. So if you did write off that Alpine and you had to go out and buy another Alpine to replace it I would expect you would have to pay at least $3K to find another one. Alpine/GLS are a pretty rare and desirable model now

Personally I think the price you paid for your Alpine was really good, usually Alpines are worth more than a normal Hillman Avenger and I have seen wreaked Alpines go for $600-700. by the time you clean it up and fix up the little issues it has then it will be a really nice car.

Good buying!!

oldschool

3k is too low, have my Alpines insured with AA for 4k each. As Richard said it's the replacement cost that's important.
Also if the sum is too low, it'll be written off rather than repaired if pranged.

Haha, Those wheels are crack up :P

Maybe it is just the light but I lol'd pretty hard at them. They so don't suit the car but as you said "haters gunna hate"

Rest of the car looks awesome.

I was seriously lost first 3 tries

oh and it leaks oil and the gauges are loose glass/in need of repair

stereo is in back seat, pushed dent in left rear out from inside easy peasy!

avenga

I have heaps of spare parts for the Alpine cluster if you need it.

I even have a fully restored set of gauges that set me back over $600 which I am not even going to use.

Sounds like the shock to me. May be it isn't bolted in at the top or it is buggered.

They use the same adjuster as the mirror in a Valiant like my Charger. (be warned Valiant parts prices are stupidly expensive)

is way down my list currently : budget is nill and not quite a requirement

thinking about jammign the Solex's I have and the spare cam : couldn't hurt right?

aware this is a reasonably tired old engine BUT dont have another K for a rebuild just yet : will have to wait till at least summer

avenga

Would be good to see how the Solex's run.

BTW my '80 Avenger is AR paint code also. I like the think it stands for "Avenger Red" but there was a Valiant colour called "Amarante Red" so it is probably that.
