Hi fellows.

How are you? This post is about a problem who came up a month ago I think. My velocimeter started to make ugly sounds like tac-tac-tac and it marked speed veru bad. For example, I drove on route at 85 km/h on GPS and velocimeter indicated 20 km/h. Very bad :(. I started to investigate problem, so I faced the economic solution, I changed the velocimeter wire (I don't know how must be said) I mean the wire that connect the gear box with the instrument. So, I changed this and nothing. It get wors, the needle even moved!! So I lfigured yout that the problem could be the clock mechanism. So I found in a web page similar to TradeMe  a velocimeter clock new and without use!! And best of all it is the same model than broken mine. Excelent, tomorrow I will go to trade it and on sunday I will put hands on work to change it, and of course I will attach photos. It is quite easy

Note. sorry for my worst vocabulary, I hope you can understand me. :)
Cheers

oldschool

My Chrysler Avenger with the same speedo had a similar problem. The speedo needle was sticking because it had bent and was touching the speedo glass. It is plastic and I used a hot knife to heat the bend so I could push it straight again!

Hi everyone! The day has come today Sunday, I got the new speedo mechanism yesterday, and It has been replaced, it works great, even better than the old one, I mean it marks more accurately, I tested with the GPS speed and there is no such gap between the speedo and GPS.

Oldschool, Hopefully it would have been the problem you said, but the needle of the old one was ok, I think that the internal mechanism has a broken piece maybe a gear or and axis, I don't know.

Like I promised, photos!

Here I have disengaged the steer column, to release the dash

this is the old speedo, if you compare it when the new, you will see that the gears are not the same. In the old are of plastic and in the new one are of metal. Crazy uh?

The spare speedo, and it's original box directly from Chrysler Fevre Argentina, Spare Parts Division

Finished Job!

My dog Mylo says hi! he is a Jack Russel like the Mask film

I hope you like my post and my experience. Best regards to all NZ from here!
