Hi Dan.

I run a 1500 in my '75 Avenger.

The 1500 I run in from a '73 Avenger Alpine (NZ version of a GL) so it had the "S" head with the dual valve springs and double row timing chain.

Mine has been hotted up with dual dellortos, ported head and heaps of internal work. It is putting out 78HP at the wheels (Est about 110HP at the flywheel).

Here are some pictures of it. You can read more on my build thread here http://www.avenger.co.nz/forum/index.php?topic=13.0

This was the 1500 that was in the car when I got it. It had a downdraft weber carb on it. It went slow but was really good on gas.

Thats a sweet motor, which engine would be in mine?? as you can see its just a DL model, 1970

Yours would be a standard 1250 or 1500. Being a DL it may only be the small 1250.

Check on the side of the block under the exhaust manifold and look if you can see a "LB" or any other letters stamped there. That will tell you if it is a small or large bore.

On the old Youtube video the description said they put in a new engine so it may not have it's original engine anymore. Check out the ID plate near the bonnet latch and compare that to the engine number on the block. The engine number is on the other side of the engine stamped into the cam tunnel just behind the fuel pump.

I have a set of twin strombergs for sale if you're interested, incl. two carb kits and manifold just needs the carb to be restored with the carb kit and reset and tuned and you're good to go

Be a bit of freight sending them all the way over the Ireland.

Matching engine numbers, LB printed on the block !

Sweet. The LB means it is a 1500.
