Hey guys,

After a Grill with the twin circular headlight shape, i'm going to convert my '73 to twin headlight.
Don't see the twin lights alot on em in NZ, wanna be a bit diff!

Also wondering, will that grill just slap straight in or will i need to mess with it?

Its a huge job mate. I had exactly the same idea afew months back. Then Dave (avengertiger) came around and explained the ins & outs of it all. It involes unstitching all the spot welds of the front panel. Then re welding a twin headlamp front on.

Alternative options:

1: get a decent GLS shell and swap everything over.
2: spotlights.

I've got a pair of round lucas spotties too which I'm considering putting on. Complete with original covers. I don't know if I really want to be flying the Lucas flag, though. I usually like to go for good Mitsubishi electrics if I have the option... haha.

Lol Im hard out flying the lucas flag. Lucas starter motor, Lucas Alternator, Lucas spotlights, Lucas brakepads, I even went to the trouble of finding some NOS lucas bulbs so all my bulbs are lucas too.

I've spent far too long arguing with various electrical systems in old british cars. I've decided that since Lucas is the constant here that it is all their fault. That's fair, right?

My brand new Japanese alternator is still going strong 6 year on. (I'm sure it ended up on my current block, I will have to check in the morning)

Edit: Obviously not. Lucas, Lucas, Lucas. Drat.

While we are on the subject I was actually thinking about mounting a pair of rectangular spotlights in the grill next to my normal lights. My mate's Estate had them like that and it actually looked really good. Double rectangle. I'm not sure if it would be as good on a sedan, though.

Though if it is good enough for a Charger...

Well I am very biased to the VH Charger retangular spotlights since I own a VH Charger with retangular spotlights. be warned those spotlights are very expensive 2nd because everyone wants to make R/T clones like the picture above. They came out on the 770 and the R/T VH Chargers, mine is a 770. I have seen them go for $450 for a pair on Trademe.

I have decided to go a bit nuts on my Avenger and will probably do a full respray while it is getting all this fibreglass done so I will be getting the dual headlight conversion done at the same time. I will be getting the sheetmetal fabricated from scratch so I will make a build thread for it.

I already have a pair of aftermarket rectangular spotlights which should do the trick. They are about 10mil too wide to fit really nicely in the grill where I want them, though. Plus I am very hesitant to cut up a good grill - one of youse planning the GLS conversion should send your old grill my way so I can experiment!

I have a few spare standard grilles. I brought a few on Trademe a while back.

I got my GLS grille for $1 and same with a standard grille. So if you want to buy my $1 standard grille off me then it is all yours.

Put my name on it and I will grab it next time I am up that way. :)

Not worried about it being a big mission, I have 6 months to acomplish something i'd like to hope is a fabulous 1500 stock machine.

Old photo: imagine it has bumpers, and that I didn't somehow completely ruin the resolution. My image editing skills are second to none. (my one regret is that you can't run MS Paint on OS X.4.11 otherwise I would be all over that shit)

Aux lights being the same size of the mains is obviously not going to cut it. But it is late and I can't be arsed working out how to use this Seashore program.

All yours.

FYI the main lights in a VH charger are the same as the main lights in an Avenger.
