I searched TM for "15 4x108" to find my finds :P

avenga

Haha, Yeah that was the first thing I searched for last night.

It's a good idea to check and replace the wheel bearings if using deep dish -ve offset wheels on the front, as they load up the (smaller) outer wheel bearing much more than standard wheels do and in extreme conditions (eg. rallying) the stub axle can break from uneven loading.
Not critical on the back as the offset doesn't make much difference to the axle and bearing loading.

avenga

Thanks for the tip Ross, I shall get the bearings renewed before putting the new wheels on.

I have been thinking about what I like and at the moment I am leaning towards a "D" window steel rim in gloss black power coat.

Like this one but I will probably get it from Diamond Racing Wheels http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/pro.html

Look Hot Richard.
I've got some 14 x 5.5 JBW Minilites on the way from the UK, will fit 185/70 tyres on the back and front too if they don't rub, otherwise 175's. They have a +22 offset, so will hopefully clear the strut okay and not load the bearings too much.

avenga

Cool. They should look good. I am going to try going for really big rubber on mine. Cut the guards, flare it out. Should look pretty hot.

Hell yeah gota have dish Richard, Im loving the Cop/ stock car rim, I like it that they stand out in their own way, not just a huge chrome rim that looks like crap. if you know what i mean?? I also like the challenger series with the stockcar on the same picture, looks Mean, as in black and just suit the overall of the car!

Sweet As.

Cheerrs MIkey.

avenga

Yeah I am not a fan of big chrome wheels on old cars so I know what you mean. I have always like cop rims.

I think I am pretty set on the Pro series in black from Diamond Racing wheels. Love the D window Nascar look.

Okay so I have decided on tyre and rim width. I will be going for 15x8 with 225/50/R15 on the rear and 15x7 with 205/50/R15 on the front.

I am 99% sure I will go for the gloss black D window nascar wheels like this

But I am still thinking maybe Minilites but probably not because they are too common.

Rule of thumb: Minilites on minis - nothing else.
Chill Datto, bro!

Come on Richard you need 15x9s all around.

Good call, now days they seem to be on everything. I went to Hampton Downs to take photos at the HRC Icebreaker. They had over 230 cars racing and so many of the classics had Minilites.

We test fitted some Minilites, 15x8 on the rear and 15x7 on the front and they looked really good. They are pretty massive, I don't want to over do it. At the end of the day I still want it to be drivable.

Re: elite, they most liekly can, but they will be super expensive I bet, will be worth giving them a call though.

I used Elite to widen some steels for my chevette. that alone cost $400 so Id hate to think what a custom steel rim would cost from them...

would be interested to know though, just out of curiosity.

I rung them and they said $225 per wheel so that is pretty expensive. $900 plus shipping vs $450NZD plus shipping from Diamond Racing Wheels.

So yeah unless the shipping from Diamond is over $450NZD then I will be getting them from Diamond.

bit late now but spacers?

I have just come across 2x converters to 4x113.5 I might try something silly on the back

avenga

Okay. So I have got my prices back. Tell me what you guys think.

Elite Wheels

$225 per wheel + $60 per wheel for powder coating + $70 shipping = $1210

Diamond Racing Wheels

15x7 $92.00 USD each + 15x8 $98.00 USD each + $500 USD shipping = $880 USD = $1150 NZD

I am also thinking of maybe getting the 5 spokes from Palmside which would be ~$1170
