so ive sprung a leak which i always knew i had  but now that its constantly raining its been a real pain and now all my drivers side carpets are saturated. i figured it either my loose fitted seals around my little triangular window which are due to be replaced (i know this becuase u can nearly fit a fingernail in between the rubber and the window) or some unblocked off hoses going into where the pedals are. The hoses are only a problem though when im driving, then the water has movement and it can go into my shoe:-/

basicly, does anyone know if the little triangular window rubbers are generic and does basisnz sell them?

black windscreen sealant is your friend (can get it from repco etc in tubes for like 15 bucks). dont bother replacing the window rubbers.

kierbear

nah i dont think i will bother getting them replaced after last time's episode. ill just wait till the window flies out of the car then worry about it. i didnt even know u could get black sealant. thanks!

have you checked the heater hoses and matrix? it will leak out onto the drivers side if fubard.

kierbear

yeah its usually the heater hoses but they dont leak to the point where it floods, just into my shoe when im driving. i patched up the rubbers and it seems to be helping. it may be a mixture of the two

I had my Avenger leaking badly from where the clutch cable went through the firewall. I know you have an auto but maybe they have something similar on the autos.

I also found it leaked behind the brake booster.

Where the heater unit pipes go thru the bulkhead the little foam seal rots away. Best pull off the dashboard and get some old foan from a busted chair seat and pack as much as you can around the interior side of the bulkhead around the heater pipes hole, this cuts down noise too. Then get a bit of felt and shape it for the b'head hole and the pipes. Put back the heater, seal up your felt grommet thing by smearing silicone sealent on the front. Sealed up. I had to do the same on mine. The heater was loose where someone had tried to remove the heater. There was no water leak inside the car, but the hoses are pretty rotten so there was a coolant leak in the engine bay side. Fitted proper jubilee clips, no leaks.

I can pretty much garentee it will just be leaking through the bottom corner of the windscreen seal. Mine did the same thing and then it pools in a lip and the bottom of the dash panel thing and then when you drive it sloshs out and gets your feet wet!

so yeh, Id put money on it being the windscreen seals, so just get some black sealant and mush it in the corners and along the bottom

kierbear

yeah i put some in the other day and it seems to be fine. :-)

oldschool

I think it's caused by Kiera spilling her beer while driving...especially when being overtaken by an Escort...haha

JoKer

fill it with a hose and see where it leaks... (the car :D
