There has been a wagon on trademe for $3,500 but it doesn't seem to be selling. Yours is a van so it is super rare which you would think would increase the value but I think at the end of the day that would only matter to us Avenger geeks.

Recently it seems that about the $3,000 mark, give or take, is what Avengers are selling for. I would say try $3,500-4,000 and really push the fact that it is a super rare van, maybe replace your lights with the original type. If it doesn't sell for that then drop it down to $3,000.

It is a shame that Avengers don't go for more, escorts are easily twice the price of an Avenger. It sucks but it is all about public opinion and unfortunately Avengers don't have a big enough following to demand a higher price. Increasing public awareness of the Avenger was one of the reasons I started the forum and hopefully one day the Avenger will be up there with Escorts in terms of price.

This one looks pretty cheap. only $1500 reserve. KM's look original at 88,000KM. And it is a GLS

It is just around the corner from me so I can go inspect it for any of you out of towners.

Chrysler Avenger 1980

Notes:
- First registered in NZ in 1980.
- Regularly serviced by local mechanic.
- Has a number of small dents, scratches, and rust on door edges etc as would be expected for age.
- 88226 Km?s (Only 5 digit speedometer but believed to be correct).
- Original roof.
- No major accidents.
- Original paint (except where rust / scratches have been removed)
- Only two owners since new, with the current owner since 1981.
- 4 almost new tyres (front 2x 175/70/R13 and rear 2x 155/80/R13)
- New clutch a few years ago
- Garaged entire life.
- Achieved a speeding ticket during holiday period ? Feb 2012. (56km p/h in a 50km!!)
- The Avenger is also known as the 'Hillman Avenger'.

Issues / faults:
- Choke light appears to be constantly on.
- Rust is evident, buyer inspection recommended.
- Oil level light on occasion has intermittent fault, but not currently present.

I live close to both AA & VTNZ testing stations and am more than happy to take for an inspection on your behalf (but at your cost).

I am selling this car on behalf of my elderly neighbour (apparently not so elderly) and will be liaising with all questions and inspections. The transfer of ownership & payment will be done with the owner direct.

Auction reserve is $1500.00 and another 3 months rego will be included on reserve price being met.

Yeah that's a good price...too bad it's not an auto...gearbox for Joker, bell housing for Taylor!
There was an auto GLS in Chch on TradeMe for $2000 ono, maybe sold now.
Chrysler sedans seem to sell for about 1/2 Hillman prices with vans/wagons of either brand worth more as they're the rarest NZ model.
Many collectors prefer the classic Hillman look, even though back in the day Avenger sales increased when the Chrysler model came out, as they looked a lot like a Cortina and Chrysler cashed in on that...many people thought they were buying a Cortina...lol
