Yup. It is Mark Laughton's V8 Avenger.

He has rallied in South Island rallies for year.

It is an awesome car.

Yeah, started out with a 10k reserve 12k buy now a couple of months ago...looks like it's had 15k spent on it...so he doesn't want to give it away!
Modified ones can be harder to sell than standard, depends if the potential buyer likes what you've done?
Original classic cars increase in value as a 'driving investment' (like Richard's Charger) with factory engine, original number plate, upholstery and paint.
The going rate for an original Avenger seems to be about $3000 going on what mine have just sold for.

The value of a classic car drops if those things are changed, although it may be worth more as a modified car to the right buyer, for example someone who wants to go racing and doesn't want to spend 15k modifying a standard car.
The scenario can go like this...
1st one...
Buy standard classic car for $1000 spend $1000 on maintenance over 5 years, then sell for $3000 = $1000 profit.
2nd one...
Buy standard classic car for $1000 spend $15,000 modifying it over 5 years, then sell for $6000 = $10,000 loss.

I know which scenario I prefer...LOL

JoKer

I'd call it "restored" more than modified

/pedantic

oldschool

Haha...removing the battery tray and putting the battery in the boot, along with fitting racing seats is more than 'restored' !!

JoKer

true true : its getting close haha, but doesn't warrant 10x value etc [think we all agree on that]

oldschool

Yeah, I think he'll be doing well to get double what a  standard one is worth.

I think, buying a Chrysler Avenger 1.3gl for $125 and driving it doing little mods and changes over the years sounds like a plan to me.....wait thats what I did haha

azza1600

Or what about getting a Chrysler Avenger 1300 super for free and then making $600 from insurance company then sell it for $1300 haha

oldschool

Haha...we'll have to start a thread on who paid the least for their Avenger?...$500, $250, $125, Free, was paid to take it away...LMAO
