Cool, yeah I thought it looked familiar.

Wonder why it sat around so long before being registered. Say that though my Charger was built in '71 but wasn't register till February '72 because it was a dealers showroom car.

A few months sitting around is pretty normal, especially at the end of a model run.
What about this 1982 Cortina that was sold new to a collector in 2005...

Probably couldn't put it on the road as it wouldn't pass crash testing and emission laws....lol

avenga

haha, true. It's a pity because it would be awesome to own something like that but as you said it wouldn't pass all the new laws.

Not a problem with the old cars...they just swap over the tags and plates from a registered wreck.
Heaps of Minis were bought in from Japan...wouldn't pass our crash test and emission laws of course, so got plates and tags from old NZ new ones.
Apparently it's semi-legal, as you can argue the tags are original and you've just replaced the rusty body and worn out running gear...lol

blekkja

My first 3 or 4 avengers had the same plates. I swapped the VIN plate over so much that it broke and I had to stamp a new one. Still got warrants.
Chill Datto, bro!

FYI, I have some live VIN plates on hold if anyone needs some.

Nikolai

Hey Ross, is this what you have on Scarlett?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/mercedesbenz/auction-491963578.htm

If I mounted it flush with the top of the dash, would it still work? It doesn't need that bulge on the bottom for anything does it?

oldschool

Yeah I sell them Nikolai. Easy to mount on top, uses existing holes in the dash frame or you can fit it flush, just needs an air gap around it to draw in the cold air for heating. The bulge on the bottom holds the fan motor and heater element.

Al the Alpine is selling now...great photos help...I learned my photo skills from Richard during those porno...opps...I mean classic car photo shoots!

Awesome stuff!! Congrats on hitting reserve! Sounds like it is going to a great home.

I wish I could say the same for my Avenger race car, no bids :( I have put out a $2,000 fixed price offer so hopefully someone bites.
