No it doesn't...my Chrysler Avenger came with a note written beside the bracket..."Don't store the jack here, it interfers with the steering" ...apparently they fall out and get jammed in the steering rack....haha

azza1600

- Currently the best Avenger Estate on Trademe, with very little competition!

- I have owned this car for over 12 months, and in that time I have replaced the shocks, front and back, replaced the lower ball joints and steering arms. Also replaced some front suspension bushes with Nolothane. Could do with new springs to make it ride like new again. There's a bloke on Trademe selling custom's for $299.

- The interior is an unusual blue vinyl and blue carpet. Mint seats, with just one tear on the drivers, and good carpet. Faded, but not worn through. One split in the dash, pretty standard.

- Starts and runs really well. Blows no smoke. Was tuned by the mechanic, and they did a brilliant job. Good clutch. Gearbox is a little crunchy in to second when really cold, but fine when warm. Non-existent in summer.

- The wheels are Ford Escort wide rims at the back, with 13/185's, and the fronts are Ford Zephyr wheels with 13/155's. All tyre's have heaps of tread. Has Cortina/Escort/Anglia hub caps. Wanted something a little different from Tridens or Modgies, and it looks different because of it.

- To make it a little minter, you'd want to paint the roof (its knackered), replace the carpet (if your'e fussy), replace the springs, and find another knob for the drivers window winder. If not, its fine as it is. I'd love to finish it myself, as its really almost there, but an impending wedding means I have no spare cash to do so.

Id much prefer if you viewed the car before you bid. Its a very honest and clean car, I just want the buyer to be sure of what they are purchasing.

Any questions, please ask.

I like the 4 headlight grille.

Not sure why they have a GL/Alpine dashboard with the Super strip speedo.

That, my fellow Avenger nutcases...is a 1976 ALPINE!!
What a steal...someone needs to buy it pronto...two sets of hotwires alone are worth $600

avenga

I was thinking it might be an Alpine. But what happened to the vinyl roof? maybe it was repainted. And why the Super speedo? And why the 1500?

It does look nice and stupidly cheap at $600.

Yes the vinyl roof is long gone...most of them fried by now. I was lucky with mine, being a light colour it's lasted better.
Looks like the original round speedo was replaced with a strip one and a panel fashioned to fit the dash.
A good omen for your project Richard...if a round speedo can be easily replaced with a strip one, vice versa also applies...lol
It may have had a motor change from 1600 to 1500 or more likely it's a 1600 that's been described as a 1500, as they look exactly the same.
Of course the giveaway that it's an Alpine are the twin round headlights...that's not an easy conversion!
You'll also see on the extreme right of the interior photo - there's a heated rear window switch in the lower dash...that was a luxury item in 1976, not on the base model...tightfisted Chrysler again...haha

avenga

Sweet! Agreed, an alpine it is then. It does look bloody good really. Makes me want to finish my dual headlight conversion on mine.

Nice stance and the rear lines look really good in that colour for some reason. Road trip up north to check it out Ross?

I have a whole Alpine dashboard so my project should be pretty easy. Just need to modify the wiring loom and I should be all go.

is it far from you richard? if you go to look at it i would be keen to know if its worth a bid? could be my new project....

avenga

Yeah, it's about 250Km north of me. 500Km round trip.

It would take around 3 hours each way so 6 hours all up. It would be an all day trip.

I am a bit Jelly. That looks like a score and a half. If it has been lowered properly then it is worth it for that too.

I suspect it doesn't have a motor?

Are Alpines that rare, really? Half my cars have been top trim - if you count a 7series in with that.
Chill Datto, bro!

avengertiger

oh thats a bit of a trip all right, shame its a bit far for me hope it goes to someone on here looks like a nice project, add says 1500 engine needs rebuilding.

oldschool

Original Alpines are rare, any condition wagons even rarer!!
A road trip up north is tempting...I'm a bit loose with my money though (any woman will tell you that!) so I'd end up buying it...and I don't really have the room...lol
