lol go for it then - I cant afford a bidding war

edit : if the need is there I would grab a manual from Wilfs and steal Kierbears auto :P then send the bill

While the ladies might not agree, I've always said you're a gentleman Jared...lol
If it's going to cost $3000 to get it fitted I might have 2nd thoughts too!!
Reckon it might be cheaper to bring some 5 speeds in from Argentina??

JoKer

or avengertiger it : toyota stuff iirc

like i said can make anything fit?

avenga

My Gearbox only cost $3000 because I wanted some bling that noone will ever see, but really I think you could get it done much cheaper. And now that Bygone have done all the hard work on mine and have a template they could probably make the adapter plate for a fraction of what mine cost because a lot of my cost was R&D.

I am really happy with they 5 speed, I was driving on the motorway and I changed down to 4th to pass a truck and I can't believe I used to drive around all the time in 4th, it just seems soo high revving.

5 Speed from Argentina would be interesting. Maybe we should ask some of our foreign members if they can ship a bunch out. Maybe include some 1800's.

hunter block/heads = 1800?

still not sure why the seirra is the 'must have'

edit : if these seem like newb questions , thats cos they are

oldschool

Trouble is the Hunter motor is a bit of a dog...they took them out of the Iranian Hunters and put Avenger motors in...lol
Actually it's cheap and easy to just put a complete Pinto motor and Sierra 5 speed in an Avenger, but i don't want to lose that special Hillman-ness....haha

avenga

The Sierra isn't a must have, it is just easier because the clutch and driveshaft fit perfectly. They are all the same splines hillman and ford, and with the spacer then its the correct length so you don't need to do that much to them.

With say a Toyota T50 you need to make a new clutch and drive shaft. NZTiger went the T50 path so he would be the best to talk to about what he had to do to get the T50 going but with the Sierra it is just less stuff you have to do because it basically just slots in to place.

Hunter engine is a dog, It was out on the Humber so it was outdated even before they put it in the Hunter, really it is like a 50's engine so the Avenger engine is just lightyears ahead of it in engine design.

Avenger Alpine going cheap!!

Chrysler Hillman Avenger 1974

Quote from: http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=398652246This is a 1974 Hilman Avenger.
Has been sitting for a while with the intention of sanding it repainting it and putting a new interior and motor in.
Sad to see it go, it has potential to be a nice car I just don't need a project at the moment.
Bidders are welcome to view.
It dosn't go but was going last year.
Took the seats out which were dusty and had mildew on them.

As you can see it would need a lot of work to get going but it is a nice shape and there is no dents in any of the panel work.

Not sure what this is worth in its present state so will let the market decide.

As is where is.

Thanks
