I am guessing yes. If you view their member profile you can see when they were both last online. Both have been on the site in the last 24 hours so yeah give them a PM and rev them up :)

I thought we post stuff when our cars breakdown, must be why I've been quiet...nothing to report....haha
Well I did replace the alternator on Scarlett a little while ago and am planning to hook up the reverse lights sometime.
All Avengers have them, but they often aren't connected because Penny Pinching Chrysler wanted to save money...I've heard of Avengers being knocked back on WOF's in the old days because their reverse lights weren't working!!
And Yes the HB number was exclusive to Hawkes Bay I was told, by my car dealer cousin (and confirmed by wiki) Saw one on a 1974 Valiant when I was at the show in February. Definitely worth keeping it on my Alpine, rather than put a P plate on it!!

avenga

Yeah I want to do the same thing and hook up my reverse lights. Wonder if it will be harder getting them going on my 5 speed.

You can see the reverse light switch and cable in this photo.

The reverse cable from the gearbox connects to the wiring loom behind the battery under the brake master cylinder, where there's a couple of wires protruding from the loom. Then holders and bulbs need to be put in the reverse lenses and the wires pushed on (including earth wires) and it should all go?!

Hillman Avenger 1600 Race /Rally Engine

Quote from: http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=394533538Have this little retro gem for auction.
We bought this years ago for one of my sons Avengers.
It had been built up for a rally engine about 1985.
My son used it for about a year until it dropped a valve. (off a stock head it was running not the modified one)
From what I remember I was told by the original builder it ran 116mph (about 185kph) in one of the Ashburton street sprints.
Anyway heres from what I remember
Big valve head (43mm), nice big inlet ports.Radical cam, nothing much happened before 3000rpm then pulled strong to who knows where.Lightened and skirted hepolite pistons, extra flywheel dowels, originally balanced.Nice bore, bottom end, valve guides, needs replacement piston. Will need a good hot tank and clean, fresh rings and shells and it would be a beaut.
Comes with headers and twin Solex 40s and manifold.Block converted to studs.

frik $250! 1600 w/ solex's

someone snap that up, bet it will go for more

avenga

Yeah it is a pretty damn good price. Don't know how well it will go on the street with nothing below 3,000RPM but I guess that is the way an Avenger engine is once it has been modified. Mine has nothing below 2,500RPM so it's not that much worse.
