in short, will a 1300 dizzy work on a 1600 engine?

cheers

it should work if it will work properly or not is another thing,do you have a haynes or autodata book it should give the various dizzys used with specific engines,i know the tiger dizzy is different to all others and is denoted by part number on the dizzy housing, its down to springs and balance wieghts that are different for various advancements due to twin carb and single carb etc.
check your part numbers and type either 25d or 45d and part number after. against the manual and it should set you straight, but there are differences.

yeh ive got acouple of manuals, most motors came with various dizzys, the one on my 1300 is a 45d and the one that came with my 1600 is a deceiler (spelling?) but its missing a few bits so was going to see if I could use the one off the 1300. suppose I better just use the one it came with and get some new bits

There will be a 5 figure number on the side of your Lucas 45D, 41559 or similar?
Then it can be looked up in a Haines manual to get its specs.
Generally the 1300 dizzy advances more than the 1600 one, so may be a good performance upgrade??
Maybe academic, as all the dizzys are 30+ years old now and pretty worn, so not within the factory specs anymore!

Ducelier, the French one. If using a Duc check the vacum advance is not banjaxed. I had that problem on a R5 I had.
Abroad and thinkin' of avenger

Ducelier dizzys weren't common on NZ Avengers, mostly used Lucas 25D/45D then the 45DM electronic - still working on my 1979 GLS...who said Lucas was crap?!

I put the 1300 dizzy on the 1600, It works a treat. Advance retard works fine. No detonating.
