Avenger UTE : Pick Up Eniak Durango

Once again a New member brings us some GOLD

Did you know that the Argentinian avenger got another "sibling" in the form of a utility small truck?

here it comes the ENIAK DURANGO,  the cabin  engine bay and the engine all were took from the avenger

2 versions were made, a 1000 4x2 1500cc and a 4x4 1800cc

the manufacturer, Eniak made another very rare sport car with the 1500 engine and rear end.







Uruguay has also a pick-up version but was officially Dodge 1500

Pick Up Durango:
The production of Eniak SA was not limited to the Antique. Taking advantage of the vacuum left by the closure of the import in 1982, the company faced the project for the manufacture of a 4x4 pick-up truck. This is how the Durango 4x4 was born in 1986, the first Argentine all-wheel drive pick-up. Developed from the hull of the VW 1500, the Durango offered a cabin interior with its own design and a refurbished front. The equipment was complete, including heating, air conditioning with rotary compressor, AM / FM radio with cassette and two speakers incorporated in the door panels. The reinforced chassis had spirals forward and crossbows behind. It was equipped with a 1800 cc Volkswagen naphtero propellant, optionally available with a 2.3-liter diesel engine. The transmission was Transax and could be exchanged by an Eaton team. A wide range of options allowed to configure the Durango according to the user's needs. It also offered an economical 4 x 2 version that brought a 1.5-liter VW engine. A year later the offer is extended with the Durango 1000 version with mechanical and equipment characteristics similar to the 4x4 and a load capacity of one ton ...

Eniak "died" in early 90' with the new rules about "fuera de serie" o "fuera de fabrica" (for non serial production companies) but for what it seems, VW was providing the shells, eniak did the modification, cutting and assembly with a reinforced chassis and pressing the bed. so it is possible to make a "diy" ute out of the avenger

Lookup Dodge 1500 Pickup made in Uruguay. Apparently lot of them snapped in half after been made in Uruguayan factory.
