Looks awesome! It will look even better when you lower it down a bit.

get a spare set of springs & get Makita 'one-ways' :P (cut a coil or two) pretty sure you can remain legal due to the spring design & captivity : have not tested this in real life (I'll find link)

The Avenger has heaps of turns on the front springs, so can be cut to lower and still remain captive.
Not so the rear...fit wagon springs as they're shorter and thicker...simple.
Those Sunbeam struts won't fit your Hillman unless you change the top hats too.
Hillmans have a 1/2" strut thread while Chryslers/Sunbeams are 9/16"

While i was waiting for my springs to be reset after lowering it, it had cut escort springs in it, passed a warrant, even though one fell out going over the driveway lip leaving the wof place.

LOL oh my!

I measured my Rear springs once here :

screencap because Photobucket ate the originals, the rears are also the easiest to get out with little effort especially if you have buggered shocks

does anyone have the data on front springs or is it on the forums already? / something we might be able to use to find modern equivalents?

even Springs rates in kg etc would be AWESOME

TheMechanicnz

The information is somewhere on the asoc forum, i know the passenger side spring is an inch shorter and a different weight to the drivers side, apparently due to accounting for the weight of the driver on that side of the car.

Another option and a cheap option for a poor student is to hunt down some Avenger Heavy Duty springs.I paid $20 for the rear pair and $15 for the front pair, I found mine on a Chrysler Avenger wagon.
I think your best bet would be to check out the wagon models as they sometimes were fitted (but not always) to them to enable the wagons to carry a heavier load....they are also stiffer than the standard springs.
The free length difference between the front standard and heavy duty springs is about 30 mm lower for the heavy duty springs. The front of my car sits a little bit lower because of this, the rear appears to be about the same. I did not bother to measure the difference.
So you can see you win two ways by gaining stiffer and slightly lower front springs for only $15. and stiffer rear springs for only $20
If you want to lower the car more you will have captive problems as I found the Left front required only about an inch of compression to fit them. the springs had not sagged as they were still about what the manual says they should be.
What you are looking for is the Heavy duty right spring wire diameter is 12.3 mm or 7 coils.
The standard spring wire diameter is 11.5 mm or 7.6 coils
Here are the specs.
Standard Front        80 lb/in, Rear 180 lb/ln.
Heavy Duty Front   100 lb/in, Rear 210 lb/in.

Mmmm yeah I think I am going to need to do some Makita superlows.  ;D

Now just need to find a spare set of springs.... also if anyone knows where to find a master cylinder brake rebuild kit!
